Great music! Great video! Looking forward to hear all that Monstrance! thank u boys
Thanks Andy, Barry and Martin. This makes me look forward even more to Monstrance!
It’s loverly, but I wish Andy were singing. Or there were some bass in there.
Is this a live recorded video? same as cd’s track?
anyway, hooray for the Monstrances.
This is a beautiful thing to hear and see-It’s great to see Andy and Barry working together again. My introduction to XTC was through Barry. I saw him play with The League of Gentlemen back in 1980 or somewhere around there. I went out and bought GO2 and never looked back. There was a fantastic, frantic energy to those first two records. I still love them and still listen to them. Thank you for this music & vid.
Lovely. I particularly liked the way it got darker just after halfway. Plenty of structure there to allow you to ride along with it, but an unusual and haunting piece, got the old visual imagery going in my head! Well done all three, and so exciting to see a certain man with a guitar in his hands. Pass the tissues.
Great going guys - reminds me of ‘Flow Motion’ period Can mixed with - dare I say it? - the end of ‘Super-Tuff’ from Go2 which I love!! Keep up the good work - now if you can just get Barry to persuade Colin back everything would be right with the world once more…
Beautiful, moving, dark, inspiring…
Fantastic video and the music ain’t arf bad either.
Really looking forward to the complete Monstrance package, if this is anything to go by it’s going to be something to really get my teeth, or should I say, ears into.
Horrah!!! for new music
Andy has been getting into more Eno type things such as music for airports ect.
And I must say Andy back with Barry is another great combo for all to hear and love.
Thank You Andy and Barry
a bit late for a christmas present, but it was worth waiting! super!
and as far as I am concerned, this is a much better video than all the XTC stuff : simple, classy, and interesting!
Super!
It was off and in and we like that!
a bit late 60s miles davis, ah yes, a bit of the end of ’super tuff’ but also a bit of the end of ‘blame the weather’ as well. xtc trademark somewhat dissonant jazzy vibes reminiscent of winter sunsets (to me anyway!) looking forward to more!
I’m quite grooving on this stuff but I don’t know why.
Perhaps it’s subliminally beguiling?
I shall look forward to getting this.
top stuff
Wow, this is realy good. I have to say when I read about this improvised instrumental project my first thought was Spinal Tap doing “Jazz Odyssey,” but happily it’s not like that at all.
Very nice stuff, can’t wait to get my hands on this album. As far as the improvisation goes, does anyone know if it was done freely or with some type of chart/framework?
Thanks so very much for taking your time to create this very useful and informative site. I have learned a lot from your site. Thanks!!:
Andy,
Where is that emotional voice? Just a selfish comment, really.
Looking forward to the whole CD. Cool site, lads.
well… i’ll start by saying xtc is my all time favorite band…
but lately all i’ve been listening to is contemporary/experimental/avant/punky jazz…
with no fr#&@$’n lyrics!
its another jungian moment.
i love it!
XTC, one of the greatest bands in the world. This new project wil be interesting and adventurous.
Thanks guys!
Blech! How can this lame, boring techno-jazz-pop dreck be in any way connected to the brilliant pop of XTC? i realize artists are always reinventing themselves, but how could any XTC fan enjoy this stuff?
XTC is the greatest band ever! I love XTC, love Andy, Colin, Terry… and other…
thanks for the video, guys. a nicely structured piece of music.
Love it. Jazzy. Out there.
This very simple and understated piece could have been produced by anyone
with Garageband, BUT - it’s Barry and Andy live. What a treat!

Andy eres un genio, Gracias.
Andy & Barry rocking out again. Gotta love it. I once saw Barry live solo in my middle-of-nowhere hometown (Eureka, CA)
Monstrance is lot’s of fun.
Oh Mr Partridge,,, what a guy, great band looking forward to getting my cd in teh post. Mr P does not do crap albums…. Take away salvage,, still a classic.
I you all love!+
Interesting reading the comments. The occasional person demands pork sausages after the shop has turned vegetarian. I think there may be a bit more from Andy and Barry in future, well away from the ‘Monstrance’ format. Just a hunch…..
Visionary, psychedelic, a cross-genre masterpiece…

Also I thought I saw a video of Andy and
some cute blonde chick announcing a
christmas concert in Corpus Christi TX
here’s a link
It’s really wack— I wonder how they got him to do that?
